Context
Aston University participated in the Jisc & Graide pilot, utilising Graide for a formative assignment consisting of three exam-style questions.
The assignment was run independently of other systems. Student work was converted and reviewed before being uploaded to Graide.
Once completed, grades and feedback were exported from the platform, ensuring that students received valuable insights for their ongoing academic progress.
Methodology
User surveys were conducted to compare Graide to other systems they have used and to assess the usability of Graide as a platform.
In addition to user surveys, we have analysed data from using Graide. This includes:
- An estimate of the amount of time to grade work
- The amount of feedback given to each submission
- The amount of handwriting repetition we were able to remove
Results
- It was significantly easier to provide consistent feedback in Graide compared to other marking systems.
- It was slightly easier to give high-quality feedback in Graide than in Graide compared to other marking systems.
- Graide scored 5 out of 5 in all usability questions.
- 9 out of 10 likelihood to recommend Graide to a friend or colleague
- 2 out of 3 questions were over 70% faster to grade
